PDF to Excel

Pull tables and columns out of a PDF into an Excel spreadsheet or CSV, with numbers you can calculate.

Using this tool is free. Each download or copy of a result uses 1 export; the same result again within 24 hours is free.

Extract tables from a PDF into Excel

PDF to Excel rebuilds the rows and columns of tables in a PDF (bank statements, invoices, price lists and reports) as an Excel or CSV file, turning figures like £1,234.50 into real numbers you can sort and total.

Each line of text becomes a row and text that lines up becomes a column, so check the result, especially cells with wrapped text. Put all pages in one sheet or one sheet per page. Scanned PDFs need OCR PDF first.

Privacy and price

Your PDFs are processed by your own browser (using the open-source pdf-lib and PDF.js libraries), so they’re never uploaded to us or anyone else, and nothing is kept after you close the page. Trying the tool is free; each download uses 1 export (one PDF or one ZIP), and downloading the same result again within 24 hours is free. See pricing.

Questions about this tool

Is the PDF to Excel free?

Using it and previewing the result are free. Downloading, copying or saving the final result uses 1 export: from £1.00 for 5, or included in a monthly plan. The same result again within 24 hours is free.

How does it find the tables?

PDFs don’t store tables, only text placed on the page. Each line of text becomes a row, and text that starts at the same position on several lines becomes a column. It works best with PDFs made from spreadsheets, bank statements and reports with clear columns; check the result, especially wrapped text.

Are numbers real numbers in Excel?

Yes, with the option ticked: figures such as 1,234.50, £12.00 and (45) become numbers (the last one negative), so you can add them up and sort them.

Is my information uploaded?

No. It works entirely in your browser, so your text and files stay on your device.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install.
