Protect PDF encrypts your PDF with AES-256 so it can only be opened with your password. Optionally stop people who open it from printing, copying or changing it. The file and the password never leave your device.
The new PDF is checked before you download it: it must ask for a password, and open with yours. Printing and copying limits are respected by most PDF readers, but some programs ignore them, so rely on the password for confidential content. Passwords can’t be recovered if forgotten. To remove a password later, use Unlock PDF.
Your PDFs are processed by your own browser (using the open-source pdf-lib and PDF.js libraries), so they’re never uploaded to us or anyone else, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
