Drawing a black rectangle over text in most editors only hides it: the text is still in the file and can be copied out. This tool rebuilds every page you mark as an image with the boxes burnt in, so the hidden content no longer exists, and it clears the document’s title, author and other details. It then searches the result to make sure no text is left on those pages and the words you searched for appear nowhere. Text on redacted pages can no longer be selected; other pages are unchanged.
Your PDFs are processed by your own browser (using the open-source pdf-lib and PDF.js libraries), so they’re never uploaded to us or anyone else, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
